Description

Our pure saffron from Umbria is on the list of traditional food products of Umbria. It is a totally natural product and it is obtained exclusively from the dried stigmas (stigmas) of saffron flowers (Crocus sativus, Linnaeus 1756).

The flowers are harvested by hand between October and November and only in the early hours of the day, when the flower is still closed. This procedure prevents sunlight from altering the organoleptic properties of the stigmas. Subsequently, the same stigmas, of purple red color, are separated from the flower and dried immediately at a temperature of 104-107 °F.

Saffron has therapeutic and aphrodisiac properties. Thanks to its fluidifying power it improves the circulation of blood and liquids. Since the dawn of medicine, it has also been used for the preparation of disinfecting and healing oils.

Saffran has all energy food principles in appreciable quantities. From the qualitative point of view, the proteins are rich in essential amino-acids (threonine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, methionine). The lipidsare Omega 6 and Omega 3, capable of exerting a control action on numerous physiological functions, such as platelet aggregation and blood pressure level.

The mineral salts are Iron, Calcium, Phosphorus, Sodium, Potassium and Zinc. Among the vitaminsthere are Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, niacin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E and β-carotene.

Ultimately, the consumption of Saffron, if systematically inserted into rational eating habits, contributes to improving and maintaining good health.
